Former Student

Hi, I’m Christian. I was a student at TGS from Year 5 through to leaving the sixth form in 2015.

My time at TGS hugely shaped who I have become as a person, and I still hold close many of the life lessons I was taught at the school each day as an adult. Due to the size and ethos the school has, I found TGS to be a place where I could flourish. As someone who joined as a boy lacking confidence and drive, I found the dedication and enthusiasm that all my teachers instilled in me helped me develop into a strongly motivated and engaged student, who had the belief to follow my preferred career path after leaving the school. In the Sixth Form, I studied History, Geography, English and Philosophy & Ethics, which put me in good stead for the challenges (and essays and policy papers) I have faced and written in my career since.

As well as studying politics at King’s College London, after being encouraged by my then headmaster to pursue an internship, I ended up becoming a Parliamentary advisor and aide to an MP in Westminster. I have since joined Government through the Civil Service Fast Stream and have had roles in HMRC and the Ministry of Defence. I truly believe that I would not be where I am had it not been for TGS, and I still look back on my classes fondly and count my fellow students from TGS as close friends all these years on. I believe that is a true testament to how special a school TGS is.
