KS1 & KS2 Teacher

Thetford Grammar School requires a qualified Teacher of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 for a full-time post commencing September 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. 

With a history as a seat of learning stretching back over 1400 years, today we are a 3-19 day and boarding school that achieves excellent outcomes for pupils at every stage of education.

In our Prep school, pupils follow our bespoke Exploration Curriculum which supports our mission for pupils to 'discover the world,' whilst maintaining standards beyond those expected of nationally.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and teaching skills, and will embrace an innovative approach to the curriculum. 

The role will involve working with a small team who are dedicated to the academic attainment and pastoral development of pupils aged 3-11. A passionate enthusiasm for the pedagogy of young learners, and a collaborative approach with an emphasis on sharing best practice within the Prep School are essential. All staff are expected to contribute to the extra-curricular clubs programme.

The ability to deliver Music and/or PE and Games sessions across the Prep school would be a distinct advantage.

Job Description:

Boys’ Games / PE Assistant This post is suitable for someone skilled in two or more of our key sports (cricket, football, and rugby) and keen to share these skills with the pupils of Thetford Grammar School.

This post would suit someone considering a career in teaching, although that is not a prerequisite of the job, and there may be the opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved in supporting the teaching of examination PE.

The main roles will be:

To assist the department in teaching the PE and Games programmes. To help run the extra-curricular sports programme. To coach school teams in all of the major boys’ sports through ages 3 -19 years – cricket, football, and rugby. To help with operation and admin of the department.

The Candidate: An individual with an interest in a career in teaching or coaching. A keen sportsperson, knowledgeable in at least two of our key sports e.g. cricket, football, and rugby. Someone with the desire to coach and referee/umpire. Someone who possesses great energy, enthusiasm and dedication to sport and the wider school.

Terms and Conditions: Training and support provided. 15 to 20 hours per week, term time only; the possibility of assisting on school trips and extra part-time work within the LS department may be available.

Salary dependent on experience.

Host Families

We are seeking caring individuals, couples or families, to welcome international pupils into their home. Willing and able to provide a supportive environment for these pupils to live, relax and study in outside of school hours, Host Families are an integral part of school life at TGS providing a home-away-from home for our bright, polite and engaging international pupils.
