Pathways Programme & Scholarships
Every student who enters Thetford Grammar School will undertake the Pathways Programme. ‘Pathways’ is the term we use at TGS for the university and career routes that A level choices can lead to. Separate to this we also have Pathways Scholarships that can be applied for.
Our Pathways show how different degrees and professions sit within university faculties and sectors of industry. This highly focused approach has come out of many years’ experience of helping pupils realise their full academic and personal potential and achieve ambitious goals at university and in professional life beyond.
Often, pupils come to Sixth Form with an idea of subjects they enjoy and are good at, but without a full understanding of where those subjects might one day take them. By following our Pathways Programme, pupils are clear early on what they are trying to accomplish and what they must do in order to succeed. Our individualised approach to education will keep them going every step of the way.
It is also possible for a pupil to follow a Pathway but deviate slightly to maximise their wide skill set. In fact, one of our recent graduates that left to study Medicine did exactly this and found time to incorporate A level Art into her portfolio.
The Pathways that begin with our Sixth Form head in many different directions, and there are no better guides than our dedicated and talented teaching staff.
Information on Pathways Scholarships can be found later in this booklet. If you wish to enter the Pathways Programme without a scholarship you can apply now using the application form on the last page of this booklet.
