Year 7 - War Poetry

Our Year 7 students have been exploring war poetry in conjunction with their book study of 'Now or Never' by Bali Rai.

They researched the lives of soldiers including Wilfred Owen and Robert Graves, taking into account the importance these soldiers placed on recording their experiences through poetry. Having explored a variety of poetic techniques such as imagery, onomatopoeia and emotive language, the pupils were given the freedom to write their own poems.

With our thoughts turned to remembrance, the students ensured the experiences of those soldiers were conveyed through their finished pieces.
